The short version

SafeSkies is built to know as little about you as possible. You don't need an account to use the app; there are no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking software inside the app. Everything personal — your profile, what worries you about flying, your saved flights and notes — stays only on your device and is deleted when you delete the app. The one exception is the entirely optional Community: if you join, the information listed under "Community" below is kept on our server.

What stays on your device

• your comfort profile (selected worries, anxiety level, breathing preferences)
• saved flights and their cached details
• flight notes and your flight log
• calm-session history (e.g. minutes of breathing exercises)

None of this is transmitted to us or anyone else.

What reaches our servers

When you look up a flight, the app sends only the flight number and date to our server (safeskies.ai) to fetch schedule, weather and turbulence information. While a flight is followed live (the companion and the cockpit screen), the aircraft's identifier (its ADS-B code or registration) is also sent to fetch its position and photo — that describes the aircraft, not you. As with any internet request, these include your IP address; we keep standard short-lived server logs for rate limiting and abuse prevention only, and build no profiles from them.

Images loaded directly

Some images are loaded straight from their source rather than through our server: the rain radar on the map comes from RainViewer, airline logos from Kiwi.com's image server, and aircraft photos from Planespotters. As with any internet request, these servers see your IP address and which image was requested; we send them nothing else. Maps are shown with Apple Maps.

Community (optional)

Joining the community is your choice; if you don't, none of the data in this section exists. If you do, our server keeps:

• your Sign in with Apple identifier: the anonymous user ID Apple generates for our app. We do not request or receive your name or e-mail address.
• the nickname you choose and whether you appear on the leaderboard
• your flight passport: for each flight you log, the departure and arrival airport, the date, the flight number and airline if you add them, your rating, how turbulent it felt, and your private note
• your posts, the photos you attach to them, replies and applause; reports you file and members you block
• the moderation verdicts on what you wrote (whether it was published and in which category — not the text itself)

Other members only see your nickname, rank, total flight hours and your posts. Notes on your flights are visible only to you.

AI moderation: your posts, replies and nickname are reviewed automatically before they appear, and posts receive a reply from "SafeSkies Assistant", clearly labelled as AI. For this, the text you wrote and the photos you attached are sent to the API of our service provider Anthropic (Claude); when you reply, the text of the post you are replying to is sent too, as context. When you choose a nickname, only the nickname is reviewed. Your user identifier is never sent, and your nickname is not sent with your posts. Photos are re-encoded on upload; embedded information such as location (EXIF) is not kept. Under Anthropic's commercial terms this content is not used to train models and is retained for a limited time.

Deletion: you can delete your account inside the app at any time: Community → My passport → account icon (or Settings → Account) → "Delete my account". Your nickname, flight passport, posts, replies, photos and moderation records are removed from our server immediately and permanently.

On-device AI

The "Ask" feature uses Apple's on-device model or the app's built-in answer library. Your questions are processed on your iPhone and never sent to our servers.

Purchases

Subscriptions and Flight Passes are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Anonymous usage count

While the app is open it sends our server a small signal so that we can count how many people are using SafeSkies right now and per day. The signal contains only a random number that is regenerated every day, the app version, the language, the region chosen in your phone's settings (just the country code, e.g. TR), whether SafeSkies+ and a community membership are active, and the names of the screens you open (e.g. "Home", "Flight report"). It does not contain your name, Apple ID, a device identifier, your location, your flights, or anything you type or search for on those screens; the region is a setting and says nothing about where your phone is. Because the number changes the next day, days cannot be linked and no profile of anyone is built. The counting is done by our own server, and the records are deleted after about five weeks. So that we can read the numbers on a dashboard, our server also passes the same anonymous signal (the random daily number, version, language, the country from your region setting, whether SafeSkies+ and a membership are active, the names of the screens opened, and the same fixed "iPhone app" device label for everyone) on to Google Analytics. That happens server to server: Google never sees your device, your IP address or an advertising identifier, and no Google software runs inside the app.

Notifications

Flight notifications are scheduled locally on your device from the flight timeline.

The daily sky note is sent from our server through Apple's push notification service. For that, the push token Apple gives the app, your language, your UTC offset and the hour you want the note at are kept on our server. The token is not matched with your name, Apple ID or community account. When you turn the note off in Settings → Notifications, the token is deleted from the server.

For the Live Activity on your lock screen, a temporary token specific to that activity is kept on our server together with the flight number and its departure and arrival times; it is deleted within a day of landing.

This website

safeskies.ai's own code sets no cookies and contains no analytics software; if you switch the language, that choice is stored only in your browser. However, GoDaddy, which hosts the site, adds its own traffic and performance-measurement script to the pages. That script places visitor and session cookies in your browser (_tccl_visitor, _tccl_visit, _scc_session) and sends its measurements to GoDaddy; that data falls under GoDaddy's privacy policy and we do not use it. You can block these cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.

Children

SafeSkies is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Your choices

• delete the app to delete all locally stored data
• delete your community account, and everything tied to it, inside the app at any time
• turn the daily sky note off in the app's Settings
• manage notification and Live Activity permissions in iOS Settings anytime
• the core calm tools are free, no purchase required
